Gateway Stadium is a multi-purpose  stadium in Ijebu-Ode and  It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 20,000 people and it is being renovated for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Ijebu-Ode is the second largest city in Ogun State after Abeokuta and it was the the capital of the Ijebu kingdom during the pre-colonial times.

It is currently undergoing some maintenance works and it will be ready for the tournament in 2009.

The stadium is currently undergoing maintenance works and it is at the final stage of completion; it is expected to be ready for the tournament with other stadiums.

Upon completion, the stadium would meet the requirements of the International safety standards; It will be equipped with emergency service units, closed circuit security cameras as well as crowd control steel fencing.

There will also be stand-by fire fighting equipment and metal detectors that would be put in place to avoid any misfortunes.

Ijebu Ode is a city located in south-western Nigeria. With an estimated population of 222,653, it is the second largest city in Ogun State after Abeokuta. In pre-colonial times it was the capital of the Ijebu kingdom.

The city is located 110 km by road north-east of Lagos; it is within 100 km of the Atlantic Ocean in the eastern part of Ogun State and possesses a warm tropical climate.

It is the largest city inhabited by the Ijebus, a sub-group of the Yoruba ethnic group who speak the Ijebu dialect of Yoruba. It is historically and culturally the headquarters of Ijebuland.

Ijebu Ode has a local television station affiliated with the government's NTA network and is the trade center of a farming region where yams, cassava, grain, tobacco and cotton are grown.
